North Oil Company – Offshore WEB Deck Installation

THE SCOPE
Fast Access Ltd, working with our valued client Altrad Qatar, supported North Oil Company (NOC) with the delivery of a WEB Deck™ suspended access platform for coating and insulation works to the underdeck of the Charlie platform cellar deck in the Offshore Persian Gulf.
The project required a safe, stable, and efficient alternative to conventional scaffolding in a high-heat, high-risk offshore environment — with works carried out over live plant areas and in heavily congested conditions.
THE SOLUTION
Fast Access designed, engineered, and delivered 420m² of WEB Deck™, installed by 8 WEB Deck installers in only 8 shifts.
Advantages Delivered:
- Manpower efficiency – reduced from 26 personnel (scaffold team) to 8 WEB installers + 1 supervisor.
- Time saving – reduced from 82 shifts to just 8 shifts (90% saving).
- Weight reduction – from 70 tonnes of scaffold to 8.5 tonnes of WEB Deck (86% saving).
- Contact point reduction – 80% fewer contact points compared to scaffolding, lowering interference and operational impact.
The WEB Deck solution allowed coating of all contact points during the programme and eliminated the need for repeated erection/stripping due to offshore high winds.
Installation & Working-at-Height Partnership
All offshore installation and rope access works were delivered in partnership with TAS – Total Access Systems Ltd, accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and SafeContractor, with full insurance cover for complete safety compliance.

- Zero LTI (Lost Time Incidents) throughout the project.
